Pam Hinks became interested in Genealogy some 15 years ago whilst researching her family history. At the time of starting her research things were somewhat different from today.

Locating various records could take a considerable length of time especially if outside the United Kingdom, now information is so much easier and quicker to find, often by the click of the mouse on a computer, instead of the frustration of waiting for some time for somebody to reply if they did at all.

During the last four years for personal reasons Pam has been tied to her home and her hobby became local history in Worcester, which she always had an interest in, following this she subscribed to several websites including ENG-WORCESTER-L@rootsweb.com which is solely connected to Worcester People and Places. When a request for information was placed quite often Pam found the information in Bill Gwilliam's articles, some have had happy endings - some not so happy.

In October of last year Pam contacted Bill and arranged to meet him together with his son David with a view to ask permission to place Bill's work world wide on the net for all to benefit from, Bill and his son happily agreed. When Pam originally thought of the idea she was not aware of the volume of Bill’s research and did not anticipate that it would take 12 months for one reason or another to get this site up and running, a lot of time was spent searching through file after file, in some parts amendments were made eg. when a building changed etc.

Bill's wish was to enable people to access his work without the commercial aspect of paying to view the vast amount of information that he spent most of his life researching. Pam sponsored this site herself by way of a thank you to Bill and it was also a very interesting hobby whilst helping others.
